{Peut-on chanter n'importe quoi, quel peut être l'impact de certains chanteurs sur leurs auditeurs? L'art a-t-il pour but de propulser la nervosité et susciter la violence? En Guyana, deux chanteurs jamaïcains sont interdits de séjour...}
The Guyana government has placed two Jamaican artistes on a blacklist, saying that their music incites crime and violence.
Guyana’s Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee told reporters on Monday that Movado and Bounty Killer will no longer be allowed to perform in Guyana.
The minister went on to say that the move to ban the artistes came after Bounty Killer’s recent performance in Guyana when, despite a commitment from promoters to keep the music clean, he sang most of his “dirty vibes.”
Movado on the other hand, the minister said, is a security risk and will not be allowed to enter Guyana for any purpose.
Movado was slated to perform in Guyana for the Linden Town Week Activities on Sunday and promoters are now left in the spot, since the artiste will not be allowed to enter Guyana.
Rohee said, too, that the promoters of the Bounty Killer show, Wildfire Productions will be sanctioned for not honouring their commitment.
He says in the future the administration will be skeptical concerning artistes that are booked to perform in Guyana.
Movado was also banned by authorities in St Vincent and the Grenadines earlier this year.
Both Bounty Killer and Movado, according to research, have criminal records.
